Department of Thin Films and Coatings has been established at the beginning of 2020 including two laboratories
Laboratory of nanomaterials and ion-plasma processes
Laboratory of vacuum-plasma coatings
The major activity of the department is research and development of new types of thin films and coatings obtained by methods of cathode-arc evaporation and magnetron spattering
The activities of the department are the following
conduct research in the field of thin-film materials science
research of ion-plasma processes of the deposition thin films and coatings in vacuum by physical methods
development of industrial technologies for depositing hardening, wear-resistant, antifriction, antireflection coatings, biocompatible and bacteriostatic coatings for mechanical engineering, metal- and woodworking tools, IR optics products, medical equipment and other industrial fields
creation of vacuum machines and vacuum devices for implementation of new technologies of coating deposition
