On December 21, 2022 a memorial plaque in honor of Anatoly Gordienko, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, was unveiled on the building of the Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

From 1966 to 2021 A. Gordienko worked at the PTI NAS of Belarus and for 12 years was the head of the Institute.

Anatoly Gordienko is a well-known scientist in the field of material science, theory and technology of high-speed heat treatment of metal materials, titanium alloys, metal physics of high-speed processes, academician of NAS of Belarus, doctor of technical sciences, professor.

In 1988 A. Gordienko was awarded the State Prize of the BSSR in the field of science and engineering for creation of technology and equipment for production of armoured heterogeneous materials and organization of their large-scale production for individual protection means.

The results obtained by A. Gordienko have been published in more than 350 scientific works, including 11 monographs. He created a large scientific school. Under his supervision 13 candidates of engineering sciences and 3 doctors of engineering sciences were prepared.

His achievements were marked with Academician V. Koptyug Prize (2006), the Prize of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova (2002), Honorary Diploma of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus and Council of Ministers of BSSR (1988), and Letters of Commendation of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus (2001, 2006).

The family and relatives of the outstanding scientist were invited to the permanent museum of the PTI of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
