Visit of the staff of the PTI NAS of Belarus to China (Xi’an)

From 21 to 28 June 2025, a delegation from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was on a visit to Xi’an (China) to participate in the Conference on the Exchange of Experience in Scientific Research and Development Belarus-China — 2025, as well as the opening ceremony of the branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in China (22-25 June 2025, Xi’an). The representatives from the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences included: Vitali. Zaleski, Director; Dzmitryi Antonovich, Head of the Radiation Welding Methods Sector in the Department of Electron Beam Technologies and Plasma Physics; Mikchail Kovalco, Deputy Head of the Materials Science and Casting-Deformation Technologies Department.

On 23d June, delegates participated in the ceremonial opening of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences branch in China, attended by representatives from the ministries and government of Shaanxi Province. Representatives of PTI NAS of Belarus delivered reports during the sectional meetings on «Machine Engineering and Electrical Engineering» and «Materials Science and Nanotechnology».

                      

On 24th June, during a meeting with representatives from the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR CAS) a contract  with the PTI NAN of Belarus for the research project «Experimental Study of Deformability at High Strain Rates of Difficult-to-Deform Sheet Metal Materials» was signed. There was also a meeting with Professor Chen Biao’s team from the School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE), where the parties discussed issues related to the production of high-strength aluminium alloys and composites based on them. As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to continue bilateral cooperation and prepare an application for participation in the competition for international scientific and technical projects.

The delegation also visited the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics CAS, the Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials (BIAM), and the Shaangu Group enterprise.

From 23 to 27 June, the Deputy Director for Research, Igor Smyaglikov, represented PTI NAS of Balearus as a part of the delegation from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus at the XII Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus in Nizhny Novgorod.

The aim of the Forum is to strengthen trade, economic, scientific, educational, and cultural ties between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. The main theme of the Forum is youth policy and the legacy of the Great Victory. Representatives from academic organisations showcased their developments at the exhibition “Made in Belarus”. PTI NAS of Belarus presented a number of developments at the forum in the following areas:

— induction heating technologies and equipment;

— ion chemical-thermal treatment technologies and equipment;

— magnetic impulse processing technologies and equipment;

— lithium-ion cell recycling technologies using hydrometallurgical methods;

— cross-wedge rolling.

           

From 2 to 7 June 2025, as a member of the delegation of NAS of Belarus, Yulia Ziziko, research fellow of PTI NAS of Belarus, took part in the II Congress of Scientific Councils of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS) in Jinan (People’s Republic of China).

Within the framework of the Congress she made a report «Solution combustion synthesis of nanocrystalline metal powders» at the Conference of Young Scientists of IAAS-2025 and took part in the plenary and breakout sessions of the II Congress of Scientific Councils of IAAS, as well as the meeting of the Council of Young Scientists of IAAS.

                                       

In addition, as part of the delegation of NAS of Belarus, Ziziko Yulia visited the organisations of the Academies of Sciences of Shandong Province: Shandong Computer Science Centre (National Supercomputing Centre in Jinan), Institute of Laser Technology of the Academy of Sciences of Shandong Province, Analysis and Testing Centre of Shandong Province and Institute of Energy Research of the Academy of Sciences of Shandong Province.

                          

The 35th International Specialised Exhibition «BELAGRO-2025» was held in Minsk from 3 to 7 June. This year, more than five hundred firms and companies from 11 countries, including Belarus, Russia, Germany, China, Iran, Turkey, Vietnam, Tunisia, Palestine, Egypt and Pakistan, took part in it. PTI NAS of Belarus demonstrated the following developments at the forum:
– knives for the cutter of the forage mixer for the imported combine harvester «Siloking»;
– technology and equipment for the application of composite nanocoatings based on diamond-like carbon;
– energy-efficient technologies of induction heating;
– technologies and equipment for ionic chemical-thermal treatment;
– technologies and equipment for magnetic-pulse processing;
– vacuum-plasma coatings;
– technology of lithium-ion cells processing using hydrometallurgy methods;
– complex for cross-wedge rolling.

 

From 14 to 15 May 2025, a delegation from the Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials visited the Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

During the meeting, Igor Smyaglikov, Deputy Director for Scientific Work, made a report on the directions of the Institute’s activities. Heads of scientific structural divisions also gave more detailed information on some promising areas of co-operation.

The parties discussed the fulfilment of the stages of the joint contract for research and development work in the field of electrolyte-plasma polishing and summarised the interim results of its implementation.

As a result of the negotiations, a protocol of the working meeting was signed, which reflects new areas of co-operation and further progress in the implementation of the previously concluded agreement.

THE  STATE  SCIENTIFIC INSTITUTION «PHYSICAL-TECHNICAL INSTITUTE OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF SCIENCES OF BELARUS»

has been selected as one of the winners among scientific organisations, that were be inscribed on the Republican Board of Honour for achieving high results in the field of socio-economic development based on the results of work in 2024.

This event is the result of our joint work, recognition of the results of our hard work and professionalism, a reward for team spirit and striving for excellence, an incentive for higher achievements in the future.

The official opening of the updated Republican Board of Honour took place on the 30th May 2025.

From 15 to 18 April, Minsk hosted the international medical forum «BelarusMedica – 2025». This year, the forum was attended by more than 160 organisations from Belarus, Russia, China, Hungary, Iran, Egypt, India and South Korea. The event was visited by more than 12 thousand people (details on the official website: https://belarusmedica.by/).

Physical-Technical Institute presented forgings of knee and hip joint endoprostheses, as well as biocompatible coatings for medical implants and plates.

The 24th International Specialised Exhibition «Welding and Cutting – 2025» was held in Minsk from 1 to 4 April. This significant event was held simultaneously with the international specialised exhibitions «Powder Metallurgy», «Metalworking», «Litmetexpo» and the international specialised salon «Corrosion Protection. Coatings». About 200 organisations from Belarus, Russia, China, Turkey, India and other countries took part in the exhibition.

PTI NAS of Belarus presented at the exhibition a number of developments in the field of:

  • energy-efficient induction heating technologies;
  • technologies and equipment for ionic chemical-thermal treatment;

  • vacuum plasma coatings;
  • technology and equipment for cross wedge rolling.

                 

The event was an excellent platform for exchanging experience and establishing new contacts in the field of welding and metal processing.

From 18 to 24 March 2025 as part of the NAS of Belarus delegation the representatives of PTI NAS of Belarus leaded by the Director of the Institute Zaleski V.G. were in the People’s Republic of China. From PTI NAS of Belarus in this visit took part the head of the Department of induction technologies and heat treatment – head of the laboratory of technologies and equipment of induction heating Vegera I.I., head of the Department of electron beam technologies and plasma physics – head of the laboratory of electrophysics Pobol I.L. and head of the sector of beam welding methods Antonovich D.A.

During the first days the delegation visited Harbin Polytechnic University, where the negotiations on the creation of a joint laboratory «Advanced Technologies of Energy Conversion» within the framework of the initiative «One Belt, One Road» were held and the Memorandum of Intentions on the creation of a joint laboratory between PTI NAS of Belarus and Harbin Polytechnic University was signed.

                                                        

In the following days, meetings were organised and negotiations were held with the staff of Chongqing Machinery&Electronix Holdіng (Group) Co., Ltd. The delegation visited the National Joint Engineering Centre for Microsatellite Technology and Applications, the Key Laboratory for Aerospace Application Micronanosystems, the National Key Laboratory for Basic Aircraft Layout and the National Key Laboratory for Materials Science. The delegates also attended a bilateral conference on promoting cooperation organised by Northwestern Polytechnic University.

At the end of the visit, representatives of PTI NAS of Belarus and Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials met in Beijing on 23.03.2025 to discuss work plans under the current contracts.

                 

 

On 11 March 2025, Kirill Podbolotov, Head of the Structural Analysis Sector of PTI NAS of Belarus, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, took part in the exhibition of scientific achievements of executives and specialists who received grants of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 2024. Within the framework of the exhibition he presented samples of ceramic materials based on carbides and a brief report on the subject of his development: «Ceramic construction materials based on complex carbide-oxide compounds with increased resistance to thermomechanical and kinetic effects for armour protection products, machine-building and aerospace complex». The report was delivered to the commission represented by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov, Chief Scientific Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vasily Hursky, and other officials of the ministries of the Republic of Belarus and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
