On 11 January 2025, delegation of the JSC «Giredmet» of the State Corporation Rosatom visited Physical-Technical Institute of the NAS of Belarus. In the framework of the visit they met I.P. Smiaglikov, Deputy Director for Research, Parshuto A.A., head of the laboratory of physics of plasma processes and employees of laboratory of physics of plasma processes.
The guests were familiarized with the main directions of research and production activities of PTI NAN Belarus. The scientific supervisor of the delegation Sokolova Y.V. made a report on the recycling technology of lithium-ion battery cathode materials with the production of precursors of cathode materials series NMC. The delegation visited the production facilities and laboratories of the institute, as well as the site for the recycling of lithium-ion batteries.
The parties discussed technologies for processing lithium-ion batteries and black mass, the possibility of creating a project of the Union state «Union-Recycling». An agreement was reached on the visit of PTI NAN employees to Belarus JSC «Giredmet».

A new research and production area for high-temperature vacuum heat treatment was opened today at the Physical-Technical Institute.
The ceremony was attended by Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus; Nadezhda Lazarevich, First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee; Sergei Shcherbakov, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Vitali Zaleski, Director of the PTI NAS of Belarus; and directors of academic institutes.
The creation of the research and production site is the result of the accumulated experience and successful work of the team of scientists and specialists of PTI NAS of Belarus with the financial support of the Innovation Fund of the Minsk City Executive Committee. The purpose of the new site is to strengthen the interaction between science and production, to develop the scientific and technological potential of the centres of competence of the innovation and technological cluster of industrial technologies Academtechnograd, to improve the reliability and quality of manufactured products.
The site is equipped with the main and auxiliary equipment necessary for implementation of full-fledged industrial technologies and is intended for demonstration and testing of technologies of vacuum heat treatment of metal and alloy products in the interests of machine-building enterprises.

From 28 December to 27 January PTI NAS of Belarus took part in the exhibition «My Belarus». At the special site of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus ‘Science and Intellect’ the Institute presented models with induction heating plant, complexes for cross wedge rolling and ionic chemical heat treatment, as well as the technology of lithium-ion cells processing using hydrometallurgy methods.
The exhibition included the following locations: «We are the Future», «Smart City», «Beautiful Country», «Care and Health», «Sports Country», «On Guard», «Nuclear Energy» and «Agriculture». The total area of the exposition was more than 30 thousand m2. The territory included exhibition expositions in the pavilion and on the street, a food court, a zone of cultural events, as well as thematic locations under the general title «Belarus – a place of strength». Over 350 thousand people visited the exhibition, including delegations from the Russian Federation, China, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Pakistan and other countries.
Mikhail Kovalko, Deputy Head of the Department of Materials Science and Foundry and Deformation Technologies of PTI NAS of Belarus, has been awarded the Zh.I. Alfiorov Prize for Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus 2024 for the cycle of works “Iron-carbon alloys with ausferritic and ausferite-carbide matrix structure for products combining high strength, toughness and wear resistance”. The award ceremony was held on 27 December 2024 at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

On 24 January 2025, as part of the festive events dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science, the PTI NAS of Belarus held a tour for cadets, undergraduates and employees of the EE «Belarusian State Academy of Aviation».
During the excursion the guests visited the museum, scientific laboratories and production areas of the institute, got acquainted with the research equipment available at the institute and the developments of scientists. They were told about promising fundamental and applied research, about the advantages of further work in the scientific sphere. After the excursion, everyone was able to ask questions.
From 13 to 18 January 2025, Vladimir Pertenko, Deputy Director for Production, and Anna Miliukova, Head of the Laboratory of Magnetic Pulse Technologies, were in the «Chinese Scientific Company of Chinese Academy of Sciences Bozhan» Ltd (Wenshan County, Jining City District, Shandong Province, China).
During the visit to Shandong Yinglian Optoelectronics Technology Co., LTD the employees of PTI NAS of Belarus got acquainted with the company’s products, visited production sites and workshops. Negotiations with the management of the company were held, during which problematic issues requiring joint solution were identified and a plan for further co-operation was outlined.
Besides, there was a visit to Shandong Huashou Heavy Industry Co., LTD. After familiarisation with production units, assembly areas and types of manufactured products, the parties discussed possible ways of cooperation. The company’s administration was given a presentation on the activities of PTI NAS of Belarus.
According to the results of the discussion, the General Director of Shandong Huashou Heavy Industry Co., LTD expressed interest in a number of developments of PTI NAS of Belarus in the field of chemical-thermal treatment of gears and pinions, as well as in the technology of electron-beam welding of complex gear blocks.
On 26 December Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko presented state awards to representatives of various spheres. According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 213 of 23 May 2024, the Francysk Skaryna Medal was conferred on Vitali Zaleski, Director of the State Scientific Institution «Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus», Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
The staff of the Institute sincerely congratulates Vitali Zaleski on the award and wishes him further victories, new achievements in scientific and professional activity, realisation of creative ideas!

From 24 to 26 December 2024, a delegation from the Beijing Institute of Aviation Materials (BIAM) visited Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
During the meeting, the Director of the Institute Vitali Zalesski made a report on the directions of the Institute’s activities. More detailed information on promising areas of co-operation was presented by the heads of scientific structural divisions of the Institute in their reports.
Within the framework of the visit the protocol on co-operation between BIAM and PTI NAS of Belarus was officially signed. Mid-term results of the implementation of the joint contract were summarised. Plans for further cooperation in the field of development of equipment for materials processing by pulsed magnetic field and research of ion nitrocementation of stainless steels were outlined.
On 18 December 2024, the Institute of Physical-Technical Institute of the NAS of Belarus took part in an exhibition held at the National Library of Belarus within the framework of the Cultural and Patriotic Festival «Minsk-United» organised by the Pervomaiski District of Minsk.
The event was also attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Sergey Chizhik, heads of organisations subordinate to the National Academy of Sciences, and members of the Belarusian Union of Women of the Academy of Sciences.
