Within the framework of the visit on 25.11.2024 a seminar on the theme: “Potential opportunities for cooperation between the National Institute of Technology of Karnataka and PTI NAS of Belarus in the field of development of new materials” was held. At the seminar, Professor Ramesh R.M. presented a report on the activities of the National Institute of Technology of Karnataka, available research equipment, possible areas of joint cooperation with PTI NAS of Belarus. After the event all the participants had an opportunity to ask questions. During the dialogues an agreement was reached to continue the work within the framework of the joint project and the possibilities of expanding the areas of cooperation were considered.

On the 11th of November 2024, a delegation from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna, Russian Federation) visited the Physico-Technical Institute of the NAS of Belarus.

During the visit, a meeting with Director of the PTI NAS of Belarus Vitali Zaleski and Deputy Director for Production Vladimir Petrenko took place. During the dialogue the parties discussed prospective directions and mechanisms of cooperation. A visit to the museum of the Institute was also organised in order to get acquainted with the history of PTI NAS of Belarus.

On November 13, 2024, it is planned that the Institute Director Vitali Zaleski will participate in the round table to be held at the Presidium of NAS of Belarus.

On the 5th of November 2024, a group of students of the Faculty of Physics of BSU of different specialities (nuclear physics and technology, physics (R&D activities), physics (industrial activities)) visited the Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Head of the Department of Electron Beam Technologies and Plasma Physics Pobol Igor made a presentation of the main work directions of the PTI NAS of Belarus. Besides, a tour of the production buildings and laboratories of the Institute was organised.

From 14 to 21 October 2024, a delegation from the Institute of Metals Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences visited the Physical-technical institute of the NAS of Belarus.

At the meetings the Institute was represented by Director V.G. Zalessky, Deputy Director for Research I.P. Smyaglikov, Deputy Director for Production V.V. Petrenko, Head of the Department of Materials Science and Foundry and Deformation Technologies A.T. Volochko, and Main Researcher of the Laboratory of High Pressure and Special Alloys B.B. Hina.

The participants of the Chinese delegation discussed with the authorities of PTI NAS of Belarus the prospects of cooperation in the field of creation of new materials for electric transport and medicine.
During the dialogue the parties agreed to establish a joint laboratory.

The XXVIII Belarusian Energy and Environmental Forum “Energy. Ecology. Energy saving. Electro” (EnergyExpo-2024) took place from 15 to 18 October.

The forum included an exhibition of the latest technologies and solutions in the field of energy and ecology, where participants could learn about innovations and exchange experience. This year, over 200 enterprises and organisations presented their products, and the exhibition was visited by more than 15,000 people. Besides, more than 20 conferences, round tables and seminars-presentations were held within the framework of the exhibition. Details of the exhibition can be found here: https://energyexpo.by/

Within exhibition PTI NAS of Belarus presented energy-efficient induction heating technologies and lithium-ion cell recycling technology using hydrometallurgy methods as part of the environmental section.
The Institute continues to actively work on the introduction of innovative technologies that can significantly improve energy efficiency and environmental safety in the country.

On 10-11 October, the Academy of Sciences is hosting the III IT-Academy Forum «Artificial Intelligence in Belarus».  The main goal is to summarize the activities of scientists, specialists of research organizations, educational institutions, production and IT sectors engaged in research and development in the field of artificial intelligence. This forum is held within the framework of the World Space Week. More detailed information can be found at the following link: http://uiip.bas-net.by/forum-it-a/index.html

Physical-technical institute of the NAS of Belarus is presenting at the forum a «Test complex for determining armor concussion trauma». The complex consists of a human torso simulator, control and measuring equipment, software and hardware.

The torso simulator consists of a skeletal frame, polyurethane shell, organ simulators printed on a 3D printer and located in a silicone shell. The organs are filled with liquid of a certain composition. A pressure sensor is embedded in each organ. Strain gauges are placed on the skeletal skeleton.

The hardware part consists of primary registration sensors: strain gauges on bone tissue simulators and pressure sensors in internal organs simulators; software and hardware module; specialized software.

The software is designed to display and process data, incoming signals from pressure and force sensors in real time mode. The software automatically processes information from the graphs, based on the initial data entered manually, and gives the value of the degree of injury (from 1 to 4). According to the results of work the programme generates a report in which the values of initial data entered manually, graph readings and the value of injury degree are saved.

On the 30th September 2024, the awarding ceremony of the winners of the exhibition-competition «100 Innovations of Young Scientists» took place. The winner’s diploma was awarded to Andrei Glushakov, Deputy Head of the Laboratory of the Physico-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, for the development of technology for producing cast blades for harvester heads of forestry equipment and research of materials for their production in order to achieve optimal properties.

Together with his colleagues he developed the technology of producing cast knives for the harvester head, which perform not only gripping and holding the cut tree, but also tree limb cutting. Experimental samples of knives have already been produced, and now are tested at pilot sites in forestry farms together with harvester head of JSC «AMKODOR». In parallel, the laboratory is working on increasing the strength of these parts by experimenting with the alloy composition and heat treatment technology.

The plans of PHTI NAS of Belarus and JSC «AMKODOR» are to implement a scientific and technical project focused on reducing the cost and improving the quality of the developed blades, which in the perspective will replace imported harvester blades used in forestry machinery in Belarus.
