Visit of Associate Professors of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Patiala, Punjab, India)

On the 26th of September 2024 the participants of the international scientific and practical symposium “Prospects of development of additive technologies in the Republic of Belarus” Vishal Gupta and Deepa Mudgal, Associate Professors of the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Patiala, Punjab, India) visited PHTI NAS of Belarus. Within the framework of the visit they met I.P. Smyaglikov, Deputy Director for Research, and V.V. Petrenko, Deputy Director for Production.

The guests were familiarised with the main areas of research and production activities of the PHTI NAS of Belarus. The representatives of the Indian side were particularly interested in the technologies and equipment of ion-plasma nitriding, HFI and coatings for various purposes.

In addition, the parties discussed the possibilities of participation in joint research projects, internships for postgraduate students and young specialists. An agreement was reached on participation of scientists from the Institute of Engineering and Technology in the XVI International Scientific and Technical Conference “Modern Methods and Technologies of Materials Creation and Processing” organised by the PHTI NAS of Belarus.

The 27th International Exhibition of Technologies and Innovations in Industry “TECHINNOPROM” took place from 24 to 26 September. The exhibition is one of the largest platforms for discussion and demonstration of innovative equipment and technologies for industrial production, scientific and technical developments, industrial products and services.

Physical-technical institute of the NAS of Belarus presented a number of innovative developments in following areas:

– ionic chemical heat treatment technologies and equipment,

– energy-efficient induction heating technologies,

– technologies and equipment for magnetic-pulse processing – shaping and hardening of metal products,

– technologies and equipment for applying composite nanocoatings based on diamond-like carbon,

– technology of lithium-ion cells processing using hydrometallurgy methods.

On the 25th September, specialists and young scientists of PTI attended international practical symposium “Prospects for the development of additive technologies in the Republic of Belarus”, which was held within the framework of the exhibition.

20.08-23.08.2024 4 delegations from the People’s Republic of China and 1 delegation from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan visited the Institute of Physical Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The Institute was represented at the meetings by Director V.G. Zaleski, Deputy Director for Scientific Work I. Smyaglikov and Deputy Director for Production V. Petrenko.

Visit of the delegation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

The delegation of the People’s Republic of China met with the management of the Institute and visited the museum, scientific laboratories and production sites of the Institute.  V. Zalessky acquainted the guests with the main directions of scientific and scientific-technical activities of the Institute, noting the close and constantly expanding co-operation with scientific institutions of the People’s Republic of China. Such directions of activity of the Institute as additive technologies, thermal and chemical-thermal treatment of materials, creation of new composite materials aroused special interest.

During the visit the parties discussed possible ways of development, strengthening and expansion of cooperation not only with scientific organisations of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, but also with enterprises with which Chinese institutes are actively working. As a result of the meetings, an agreement was reached on cooperation with a number of organisations in China in the planned areas.

On 20 August 2024 PTI NAS of Belarus was visited by the delegation of the Academy of Sciences of Pakistan headed by the President of the Academy of Sciences of Pakistan Kauser Abdullah Malik.

During the meeting Director V. Zalessky made a report on the promising developments of the Institute. The Pakistani side noted the wide range of the Institute’s capabilities and informed about the necessity for scientific and industrial organisations of Pakistan to get acquainted with the developments of PTI NAS of Belarus in order to establish cooperation.

Negotiations with a delegation of the Academy of Sciences of Pakistan

On May 23, the Physical-technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was visited by a delegation of Belenergoremnaladka OJSC (Belarus, Minsk). During the visit, the production sites of the institute were showed in order to become familiar with the available research and production equipment.

Deputy Director of Production Vladimir Valerievich Petrenko made a report on the institute’s promising developments.

Representatives of Belenergoremnaladka OJSC noted the wide range of capabilities of the institute and showed particular interest in developments in coating, ceramics manufacturing, ionic chemical-thermal treatment, induction and additive technologies.

The parties agreed to formulate a list of tasks for a more detailed study of the needs of Belenergoremnaladka OJSC.

On April 7 the Physical-technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was visited by a delegation of JSC AVTOVAZ (Russian Federation, Togliatti). During the visit, the production sites of the institute were showed in order to become familiar with the available research and production equipment. Director Zalessky Vitaly made a report on the institute’s promising developments. Representatives of JSC AVTOVAZ noted the wide range of capabilities of the institute and showed particular interest in developments in the field of ion nitriding, induction and foundry technologies.

The parties agreed to formulate a list of tasks for a more detailed study of the needs of JSC AVTOVAZ and to establish cooperation within the framework of R&D and direct business agreements, and outlined the need for a return visit by representatives of the Physical-technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in order to study the equipment used at the enterprise.

On April 10, 2024, the First Secretary of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus, Yang Junke, visited the Physical-Technical institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

During the visit, director of the Physical-Technical institute Vitaly Zalessky provided detailed information about the activities of the institute and cooperation with scientific institutions and enterprises of the People’s Republic of China. During the meeting, Yang Junke and representatives of the Physical-Technical institute discussed issues related to the development of cooperation between 2 countries and outlined the events planned within the framework of the Year of Cooperation between Belarus and China in the field of technology and innovation:

— creation of platforms for research, such as joint centers and laboratories;

— implementation of joint research projects;

— carrying out scientific and technical exchange activities (business trips, internships).

On April 4, the grand opening of the design center for innovative developments took place at the Physical-Technical institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov, the First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Sergei Chizhik, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Shcherbakov, heads of scientific organizations of the Department.

The design center for innovative developments will strengthen the developments of the Scientific Research Center “Akademtekhnograd”, expand the scientific and technical potential of both the institute and the entire Academy of Sciences. New equipment together with software products will make it possible to significantly increase the volume of problems solved, speed up the development of new models, calculate and design thermal, casting and deformation processes for the purpose of subsequent development of prototypes of innovative equipment.

It is also worth noting the introduction of VR technology, which will allow you to see the developed models, present them for approval with customers, and also simplify the process of transferring information with the possibility of creating a presentation VR video in the future.

During the event, the capabilities of the Scientific Research Center “Akademtekhnograd”, the competence centers of the Physical-Technical institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, innovative technologies and equipment used both at the institute and at industrial enterprises were presented.

In addition, today an extended meeting of the Bureau of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences was held at the Physical-Technical institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus with the participation of the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov. During the meeting, the activities and participation of department organizations in the work of the Scientific Research Center “Akademtekhnograd” were discussed.

 

 

25 March, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Chizhik presented the award “Great Medal of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” to Alexander Laskovnev the head of the industrial laboratory of the Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Academician, for his significant personal contribution to the development of theory and technological foundations of low-waste production of composite materials using aluminum powders.

The Academician Alexander Laskovnev was also awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Belarusian Foundation for Basic Research and in honor o his  75th anniversary
